As you probably already know, we love to share all about Groningen with you. Where to go for the best coffee and drinks. Places to go for a yummy vegetarian or vegan meal. Of course you can read all about shops where you can find fair & eco clothing. Also we love telling you about second hand stores and thriftshops. Until now every bit of information about ‘Mijn tafel’ (translation: My Table) was missing, but not anymore!
According to the website ‘Mijn Tafel’ is a private enterprise after Finnish concept. The idea is a self-service shop, where it’s not neccesary for the seller to be present in the shop. You can rent a ‘table’ (it can also be a closet or some shelves) for a specific period in which you display the items you like to sell. The seller decides the prices and he will receive the profit.
This concept has been opened in many different places in The Netherlands already. In Finland it already exists for over 20 years. We went to Mijn Tafel in Groningen: in the pictures (pictures from the former location!) you can see for yourself what it looks like.
We really like the idea behind this concept. Lots of different items are for sale: for example really old retro stuff and porcelain. But also clothes and wooden statues, home made items and much more.We like the diversity and the fact that every time we visit there are new items for sale (new sellers, or people fill up their table with new stuff).
You can find more info about Mijn Tafel, the rules and the costs, on their website.
