In the Netherlands Summer has arrived and we already had some sunny days, yay! Hopefully a lot more Summer days will follow. I love it, the sun and the warmth. On hot days I like to wear airy clothes. Like the trousers in this blogpost for example. This time we share an OOTD post again: a mix of fair fashion, a piece of clothing we don’t know how it’s produced and shoes with a questionable reputation according to fair and sustainable Dutch ranking site Rankabrand. Besides comfortable clothes, hot summer days are also the perfect excuse for Janet to go all out on lots of ice cream. That, and a sweet treat is what she tried at Strawberry, a new spot in Groningen.
The 13th of June Strawberry! opened its doors at the Coehoornsingel, a great location because it’s on the way from the station to the city center. One of our co-bloggers mentioned this place had just opened, and because Janet loves ice cream, we decided to check out Strawberry last week and shoot the OOTD there.
A bit strange, right? It looks like I’m the one who is about to dig into the waffle with strawberries and whipped cream. In reality I just looked at it, took one or 2 bites and Janets ate the rest ;-). Strawberry specializes in freshly made waffles, ice cream and smoothies. You can choose fresh fruit and syrups as a topping, and of course add whipped cream. The 2 girls in the picture were super nice and if you are in the mood for something sweet you should definately check out Strawberry.
For the outfit of the day photo shoot we also went to the Prinsentuin (The Prince’s Garden). It’s a beautiful garden, located in the city center. You’ll find fresh herbs and beautiful flowers in this garden. And, most important: it’s a quiet place where you can relax and escape the busy city center for a while between the thick walls.
I promised you airy clothes in this OOTD. During Summer it’s even more important for me clothes are comfortable. On hot days I prefer soft and thin materials. And I absolutely love wearing airy and baggy trousers in summer, just like the one in de pictures. I bought this one in Bologna, at a shop called Tezenis. We have no idea how sustainable they produce their clothes unfortunately. As written some time ago: we have this 80 – 20 % rule for shopping. So we guess Tezenis falls in the 20% category.
If you know more about Tezenis, please let us know in the comments below this blog, or send us a message.
We found the black top at Maas Natur in Hannover. In our green shopping guide Hannover you can read all about sustainable shops in Hannover and Maas Natur is one of them. Despite the firmer material of the top, it feels really comfortable and soft. The shoes are Toms, which I bought 2 years ago for Summer. Toms is the brand where we hear different stories about, positive and negative ones. We are not quite sure which stories are true. 2 years ago, I thought Toms was a fair and sustainable brand, now I am not quite sure. In this outfit I also wear a black fair fashion thong from the brand Albero: soft material, comfortable and budget friendly.
With this trousers it’s easy to change your look a little bit: just roll up the trouser legs (there’s elastic at the bottom of the trouser legs) a bit.
What’s your favourite summer look? Which looks or clothes would you definately not wear? Lots of years ago I really did not want to wear a skirt for example. I thought I looked horrible in a skirt (because of my ugly legs, which only appeared to be ugly in my head…well…) and wearing a skirt made me feel uncomfortable.

The watch: a gift from my parents (love them en love the watch!), Michael Kors.
