Banhs & Coffee, Leeuwarden

Want to devour on some Asian streetfood? Then go and check out Banhs & Coffee! This place is located in Leeuwarden, and that was exactly the city on our list to visit some time ago. The owners, Vivian and Thien, treated us to a full lunch experience.
Vivian and Thien both grew up in a family where food played a big role. The young couple decided to share there love for food in their own business, which led to opening their sandwich & coffe place Banhs & Coffee. Their vision is everybody should be able to enjoy delicious food, so they try to offer options for people with different kinds of eating habits. To set up their menu, they turned to Thiens’ grandmother for advice. She lives in California and cooks meals for a Buddhist temple, no meat is served. Thiens grandmother knows her way around the kitchen and suggested quite a few dishes for the Banhs & Coffee menu.

We tasted 4 different vegan options from the menu:
Chay rolls with sweet soy sauce and hoisin sauce, steamed bao with stewed seitan, banh mi chay and a soy seitan noodle salad.
Chay means vegetarian. The dishes were definately to our liking: tasty, great combination of flavours and different textures. And of course a lot of veggies, which always is a big plus! The seitan salad was quite filling and can easily be a lunch dish or dinner salad bowl. The other dishes were a bit smaller, so we would recommend ordering 2 options per person.
Don’t forget to order an interesting drink. You can choose between all kinds of drinks, like chai or matcha, coffee, thee, a soda or bubble tea. Vegan options available too and they offer different kinds of vegan milk.
Interesting flavours, creative dishes and a lot of vega options. That’s what Banhs & Coffee has to offer. There’s a big chance we will go to this small Asian streetfood place again, when visiting Leeuwarden.
Take away and delivery is also possible.
